Non-Invasive Maternal Health monitoring

Technologies Used:

  • IoT based device having sensors to record multiple vitals
  • Cloud based platform for hosting and managing the health records to be used for progression monitoring
  • Bluetooth to send the vitals information to the cloud software via the mobile application.
  • NFC device to update the vitals to the user wearable device & health card
  • Fingerprint sensor to authenticate the user and stores the vitals in user profile
  • Digital Platform to enable Tele-consultation
  • Mobile App for the Healthworkers
  • AI integrated web application which triages the patient data as high risk and low risk categories. Doctors can assess full patient’s health details from this portal

Problem: Non-Invasive Maternal Health monitoring

  • A women needs minimum 8 antenatal check-ups during pregnancy and missing regular antenatal check-up may lead to high risk pregnancy.
  • During the antenatal checkup collecting vital information takes minimum 15 minutes for every patient.
  • One of the huge problem prevalent in rural women is malnourishment, which affects their pregnancies, adversely leading to fatalities during childbirth.
  • The lack of decent facilities & trained and qualified doctors in rural areas, disrupts institutional care/deliveries, which leads to a high MMR & IMR.

Solutions :

  • There is need for a solution focussed on creating positive pregnancy experience and ensuring fair start in the First 1000 days
  • The solution should allow healthcare worker to track the sleep cycle, Blood Pressure, Blood glucose, Heart Rate, ECG, SPO2, Respiration Rate and Body Temperature, footsteps of the pregnant women
  • The data needs to be sent to the cloud server
  • The solution should be able to integrate with HIMS and have capabilities for Tele-consultation with remote medical expert for feedback & reviews
  • The solution should also provide reminders to the pregnant women to take medicines

Pilot Deployment :

There was a 6 months pilot done at two PHCs in Vishakhapatnam – Chengalraopeta UPHC and Gajuwaka PHC and District Medical Hospital Ankapalli was named as the Hub for remote monitoring.

The solution was used to conduct tests on 3000 women, to get the vitals like Blood Pressure, Body Temperature and SpO2.

The solution helped in electronic recording of the vital information and integrate it with the Electronic Medical Records automatically.

It is also integrated with the E-Sanjeevini, National teleconsultation portal
